Returning to Wellness After Years of Disconnection
A client found her way to me in the throes of critical illness. My work was to support her potential remission, as part of her integrated wellness team.

She was estranged from her parents and harboring years of resentment - feeding the roots of her diagnosis. We worked together to unravel the psychosomatic stories, eating away at her from the inside-out.

Relationships are full of complexities, and she had tried over the years - with little success - to resolve what seemed to be irreconcilable differences. Her parents were not receptive.

Our work together involved a weaving together of energy medicine and the shifting of her focus away from trying to ‘fix’ external relationships. She began to develop a deeper understanding of the psychosomatic relationship between her unresolved trauma and her critical illness.

The practice was to speak the unspeakable, shift the energy, and change the story. Through a supported process of writing letters, she never intended to send; speaking out loud what had been silenced; and the practice of intentional release, she was able to let go of the resentment, the anger, and feelings of betrayal that previously felt unshakable.

After years of estrangement, the silence was eventually broken. The estrangement had met the space to heal, and her parents reached out - not because she pushed for reconciliation. It shifted because she had cleared the way in - to receptivity.

As I understand it, she is still in remission today.

*In humility, this is not every body’s story. It is best to remember - it takes a village… and sometimes divine intervention to heal the big stuff. Sometimes, even that is not enough.

We all hold a piece of the puzzle of wellness in a connected system designed to bring us back into balance. What that will look like for each of us is something no one can ever predict.
